I've been engineering software and systems for over 25 years.
I have BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
I currently work at the SETI Institute as a Senior Software Engineer working on the control systems at the Allen Telescope Array. I am also a major contributor and project manager for the open source project setiQuest. My handle on the project is jrseti.
My current effort is to figure out how to Gamify the signal analysis challenge at SETI, and if it is feasible to create a SETI based children's game for mobile devices.
I am currently managing 3 open source projects for setiQuest Open Source initiative. Projects are mostly in Java with Test Driven Development.
1. I am a mentor for a Google Summer of Code project. The student is improving the build and install of our SonATA software and porting it to other OS's. See Here for more details.
2. Virtual 3D Array - A team of 8. The goal is to create an interactive 3D model of the antenna that mimics the real time state of all the antennas. Like a 3D game.
3. Telescope Simulator. Team of 6. We are developing a software suite which completely mimics the antenna system. Eventually we will plug this into our software and the system will think it is controlling the real antennas!
I've been doing more web programming. I love Ruby, I am learing Rails. I want to be ambidextrous with iOS and Android.
